How do the music lessons work?
Students enroll in the Mike Risko Music School. There is no registration fee to get started. Simply choose your instrument and package of lessons to get started. Students work one-on-one with one of our music lesson instructors to learn the instrument of their choice, just like they would in person. Students can register for a package of 5, 10, or 20 lessons.
Once enrolled, students receive a weekly email with their log-in credentials for their lesson. All lesson management is handled at our main office. Our teachers are given their daily "virtual rooms" and they meet their students there each week. At the conclusion of each lesson, students are given their assignment, just like they would in person. If a student can't make it to a lesson, with 24 hours notice, they can reschedule to a different time or day that week. If they are unable to reschedule, they are provided with an asynchronous video lesson for that week to work with.
The musical fun doesn't stop with music lessons. Students can enroll in any of our group classes which are also now being offered virtually. From Rock Band Workshop to Musical Theater, the options are endless. Inquire within to learn about these classes.
We believe it is important to engage students beyond their weekly lesson. Since our inception, we have been providing our students with opportunities to perform on a regular basis. Our open mic nights and student showcases are a great way to interact with other musicians, listen to some music and work on your performance skills. With the virtual option, students can even invite out-of-town relatives to tune in and enjoy the show. We invite students to participate in these showcases that are currently virtual and as we ad back more in-person programming, to join us live if you are local.
